Marvel has unveiled a brand new Iron Man in its comic book series. It appears that a 15-year-old black girl will fit herself in an upcoming episode of Iron Man.
In Civil War II, Tony Star will be replaced by Riri Williams, according to Marvel. Williams is a 15-year-old black girl born in Chicago who also happens to be a science genius.
Marvel fans have already welcomed the move, calling it a huge step forward diversity. Marvel has long been criticized for the lack of female and black characters, and here you go, a combo.
In his interview with the Time, Iron Man writer Brian Michael Bendis said he came up with the idea to introduce Williams in the series after he had visited Chicago and was hit by its “chaos and violence.”
“And this story of this brilliant, young woman whose life was marred by tragedy that could have easily ended her life, just random street violence, and went off to college was very inspiring to me,” Bendis said.
And so Bendis thought the black teenage girl would be “the most modern version” of a superhero. The character, Iron Man, originally appeared in 1963, and the series have always centered the character around weapons inventor Tony Stark.

Rose McGowan, star of Charmed series, has written a guest column, in which she defended Renee Zellweger’s recent plastic surgery.
The actress was inspired by a piece that originally appeared on Variety and was written by the publication’s chief film critic Owen Gleiberman. The original article was titled “Renee Zellweger: If She No Longer Looks Like Herself, Has She Become a Different Actress?” and was centered around celebrity plastic surgery.
Zellweger has been in the center of plastic surgery rumors after she appeared in 2014 with a completely new look that suggested the actress had underwent plastic surgery. But back then the actress denied the rumors, attributing her changed looks to a healthier lifestyle.
Gleiberman also noted that Zellweger no longer looks like her Bridget Jones character, which helped her rise to international recognition. Her new film, Bridget Jones’s Baby, hits theaters this September.
“Watching the trailer, I didn’t stare at the actress and think: She doesn’t look like Renee Zellweger. I thought: She doesn’t look like Bridget Jones!” Gleiberman wrote. “Oddly, that made it matter more.”
The author also added that although celebrities have the right to change their looks “however they want,” their character end up suffering from those changes. And Gleiberman admitted that he “felt like something had been taken away” while seeing the new Bridget Jones.
But McGowan didn’t agree with Gleiberman and called his piece “vile, damaging, stupid and cruel.” The actress added that the piece “also reeks of status quo white-male privilege.”
McGowan also accused Gleiberman of being “an active endorser” of abusing actresses and women, adding that “I speak as someone who was abused by Hollywood and by people like you in the media, but I’m a different breed, one they didn’t count on.”

In other news, Liam Hemsworth has been named PETA’s 2016 sexiest male vegan celebrity. Last year, Hemsworth admitted in his interview with Men’s Fitness that it was thanks to his knowledge about the treatment of animals and becoming educated about health issues from meat that led him to become a vegan.
Hemsworth also said that even though his nutritionist had urged him to eat more red meat because of his blood type, the actor refused to do it because red meat made him feel worse. He also added that his Hunger Games co-star Woody Harrelson was one of the “original reasons” why he became a vegan.
